This is probably one of my favorite photos of all time. Our Humber College "A" Band director is going over a score with me and Pete Coulman during one of our recording sessions. This is the early days of my writing, studio work. Pete Coulman became one of Canada's most amazing writers, and was a wonderful trombone player as well.
This is a terrific photo taken around 1982 at the Bracknell Jazz Festival in England. The drummer is Vito Rezza - just an amazing player. We were playing in the Michael Stuart band, who had just come off the road from playing with Elvin Jones for 2 years. This concert was recorded by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and featured many of my compositions. Playing a Fender Jazz Bass...which I played for only a short period of time.
It has been a wonderful experience teaching at Berklee with state of the art equipment. This is L3, a great SSL mixing/teaching room where I have taught regularly for the last 15 years.
